Making dreams come true ......

         Why  Roatan?

There are many good reasons to consider Roatan when you are looking to purchase a vacation or retirement home or investment property!

              • Beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear blue/turquoise Caribbean waters. The diving and snorkeling around the island are world class with Roatan being surrounded by part of the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world.
  • Warm climate year round – 75F to 85F (about 24C to 32C) with cooling trade winds. Evenings do not cool much so you never need a heater. You will need a fan or AC inside.
  • Roatan is fast being discovered as an affordable Caribbean getaway. Real estate prices have been steadily rising for years although still compare to Caribbean islands and locations 10-20 years ago. Bargains are always available and this is expected to remain the case for the several more years.
  • You will experience a laid back environment where ‘hurry’ and ‘stress’ are foreign (literally) concepts.
  • Low building costs - average construction prices for building in either concrete or wood frame is less than $100 per square foot for an average home.
  • Away from the hectic pace and stress of ‘modern’ society yet close enough to visit with family and friends in North America - only a 2.5 hour flight from southern USA.  Direct flights are available to Roatan International Airport via several airlines from major US cities like Miami, Atlanta and Houston. There are also direct flights from Toronto, Canada to Roatan.
  • Democratically elected stable government that has never seen civil war and is investor friendly. Investors and retirees are welcome and various residency types are affordable and not overly complicated for those who want to live here.
  • Serious crime is almost non-existent on Roatan. However as in almost any part of the world, petty theft needs to be guarded against.
  • Honduras is not in the hurricane zone....hurricanes come few and far between (the last major one was several years ago)
  • Low property taxes - $3.50 per $1,000 market value of your property or home. Example: $630 per year ($52.50 per month) for a $180,000 home.
  • Deep sea sport fishing - blue marlins, sailfish, snappers and many others abound in the Islands.  Charters start at less than $200 per day with great guides available.  Lobster, conch and shrimp is also caught commercially on Roatan and is available direct from the docks.
  • And last but not least, Colibri Villas (and subsequent development projects we will do) will always strive to maintain the highest possible quality and beauty in our projects while maintaining the most reasonable prices in the Caribbean.
